Vikki achieved her BA (Visual Arts) in 1990. During 1990-1992 she studied for the Lay
Ministry Certificate and worked part time at the Cottage Kitchen, Port Adelaide,
where she instigated two specific outreach programs. She was ordained in 1995 to
serve in the Croydon Park / Woodville Gardens Parish until the end of 1999, firstly
sharing ministry with a colleague then as sole minister to both congregations.
Art and religion have been a joint focus throughout Vikki's life. Throughout the past
15 years she has conducted workshops and acted as facilitator with church, community
groups and with individuals to produce art works based on a particular Christian theme.
These include 'The Great Southland' at Parkin Wesley College, 'Kata Tjuta Rainbow'
at Adelaide College of Divinity and the 'Pacific Earth Charter 2003' which now hangs
in Brisbane Town Hall.
Vikki has served on the Parkin Wesley College Council, the Board of Adelaide College
of Divinity, the Board of Bowden Brompton Wesley Uniting Mission and as Chaplain at
Ashman Grove, the PRC of Adelaide North West Presbytery and as a mentor for the
Period of Discernment. She completed S.F.E. training in 2003. Vikki has been a
UCA representative on the Council of Churches, the S.A. Ecumenical Commission and
the Assembly Task Group for Evangelism.
In 2000 Vikki became Executive Officer of the South Australian Council of Churches,
being the second woman and first ordained woman to hold the position. Vikki attended
the World Council of Churches meeting in Potsdam, Germany, and the launch of the
Decade to Overcome Violence: Churches Seeking Reconciliation and Peace (DOV) in
Berlin. She represented the UCA at the World Evangelism Methodist Council Conference
in the U.K. and the World Alliance of Reformed Churches (WARC) General Council in Ghana.
In 2006 she led a pilgrimage (26 people) to Turkey "In the steps of St Paul". She
is currently preparing for a pilgrimage to "Israel -- the Holy Land" in April/May
2008. Today Vikki holds the voluntary positions of board member of Uniting Care
Wesley Port Adelaide and Director of the Royal South Australian Society of Arts.
She continues to create textile wall hangings, attends a local gym 3 times a week
and cares for her native plant garden, fifteen goldfish and two cats, Mahalia and Jackson.
