We have a soft spot for toilets!
Pilgrim kids as part of the Children's Program on Sundays helped raise funds for a toilet in Africa. Jenny Ward, Children's Ministry Worker at Pilgrim, said,"The project was one small way of linking our Advent learning about God's continuing transformative love for the world with our own actions. The TEAR Australia 'Gifts 4 Kids' catalogue helped us to understand that children and families in some other parts of the world don't have the things we think of as basic and necessary, like a drink of water whenever we want it or a clean toilet. There was a high level of enthusiasm for the task each week, and maybe it was just fun to do, along with the 'lesson' stuff. The children made "light-catchers" to sell and it was the generosity of the congregation members which enabled the funds to materialise!"

Dear friends,

Thank you for your donation to TEAR Australia Gifts 4 Kids. It's great that Aussie kids are able to do something practical to help kids in developing countries accesss things they need for a healthy, secure life.

I have a soft spot for toilets. Having travelled a bit in various countries, I know that nothing beats a clean, non-smelly toilet. Unfortunately, a lot of children don't have access to proper toilets, and this makes kids sick. It causes them to miss school, and it costs the family money in medicines. Sizwani Jere (in the picture) has a great toilet to go to at Kauwo Community school in Zambia, built by one of TEAR's partners. The kids there even have a cement tank with water for hand-washing, which helps keep them healthy.

Whatever your gift, you've helped make life a little better for kids on the other side of the world. And that's what Jesus meant when he said, "Love your neighbour."

Sincerely,

Lyn Jackson
